The importance of the CSR Directive
The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) significantly expands the number of companies required to produce sustainability reports.
The goal is to ensure that companies transparently communicate their environmental and social impacts, and the risks they are exposed to, making their operations more responsible and sustainable.
Who is required to comply with the CSRD?
The CSRD imposes reporting obligations on:
- Large public interest companies with more than 500 employees, starting from January 1, 2024.
- Large companies with more than 250 employees and/or a turnover of more than 50 million euros, starting from January 1, 2025.
- SMEs and other listed companies, starting from January 1, 2026.
- Non-EU companies with branches in the EU and consolidated EU turnover exceeding 150 million euros, starting from January 1, 2028.
